“Shall we go by bike?” he asked.的间接引语应该是：He asked if （或 whether） they should go by bike.这里的should不是表示“应该”的情态动词，而是助动词shall的过去时，因为把直接引语变为间接引语时，如果主句的谓语动词是过去时（如asked），就应该把直接引语中的shall改为should，而且要把直接引语中的we改为they。
